END OF YEAR PARTY 2021
This year we covered 5 locations in 2 days instead of the usual 2, Oja Oba ( old palace ground) Challenge , Ring Road (Palm Mall) Mokola under bridge and Iwo Road felt our presence. Over 400 packs of toiletries (bathing soap, laundry soap, body cream, toothpaste and toothbrush with reusable sanitary napkins for girls) was distributed alongside snacks, drinks and goodwill. The recipients were grateful and appreciate the fact that they’re still considered part of the society , most of them are willing to be rehabilitated and become productive Nigerians if given the chance. Thanks to all of you who made it possible
Reunited – Seehad
Seehad was successfully reunited with his family. He was one of the very first set of children that came to the center on 13 March, 2017 and in that time he has grown, re-established and built up a healthy relationship with his family and now that he is 18 years +, we were very pleased to hand him over to his family. Seehad successfully completed his Primary School and Junior Secondary School Certificate Examinations whilst also receiving Certificates of Participation from the Chess League, Ibadan and from other Vocational Training activities during his stay at the centre. It has been agreed that he will continue with his formal education, while following a vocational training in the evenings
African Chess Championships
African Chess Championships: Waris Mufutau and Hassan represented Nigeria: thanks to Airpeace Nigeria for the tickets to and from Accra and all our financers. While Soliu Hassan finished the tournament with an average performance of 4 points of 9 games in the U16 category, our younger ward, Waris Mufutau (U-14) finished with an impressive 5.5 points, a point shy of the bronze medal. It would have been a better performance for Waris if he had not fallen sick during the course of the championship. Despite his condition, the boy showed great resilience till the end. His resilience gained recognition from the Organisers, thus he received a Fair Play Award for having played through all games with that condition.
Esther’s Graduation
After a year of internship with a qualified hairdresser, Esther graduated from the apprenticeship.
