About our NGO

Get to know about our organization

Satus Dignus CRI was created in January 2017 to rescue children from the streets in Nigeria.  Our non-profit organisation is committed to giving each child a chance to enjoy their early years, get a proper education and benefit from life changing opportunities.

Our Goals

As an NGO in Nigeria, Satus Dignus CRI pursues four goals:

Our principles

There are no bad children, only bad circumstances that require better opportunities.
Every child deserves a childhood and equal access to life-transforming opportunities.

History

A short history about our NGO

Based in Ibadan, our charity was born on the fifth of January 2017 with a Facebook post describing the proposed project. A messenger group was created shortly after with the following people to start working on the actualisation. They will always be a part of our success story.

  • Detoun Omooba
  • Bababee Omoghetto
  • Olubukola Atanda Nike
  • Aderonke Ige
  • Kehinde Adeola Onaopemipo
  • Justina Babyj Onyetube
  • Chundung Gyang
  • Busola Oluwajulugbe
  • Lola Aigoro
  • Peju Bakrin
  • Biodun Bamgboye
  • Stephen Jinadu.

From this initial work, the centre was born. An apartment was found and furnished, and the necessary repair work was done. We then met with government officials, employed our first staff members, Bukola and Bode; and finally started to meet street children.
Eventually on the 7th of March 2017 our children’s charity welcomed seven boys, who were taken care of by Bode. After that we received a growing support from our Facebook community and received generous donations from Facebook friends who we can’t thank enough.

How does Satus Dignus CRI identify and rescue children from the streets?

Our team directly engages with children living in public spaces such as markets, garages, and stations. We conduct weekly on-the-street interactive sessions called IBERE-OTUN, which include games, lessons, and meals, allowing us to build trust and provide immediate counseling before transitioning children into our residential programs.

Is the organization officially recognized and regulated?

Yes. Satus Dignus CRI is a private charity registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria and the Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion. We are also active members of the Association for OVC NGOs in Nigeria (AONN) and the Association of Orphanages and Homes Operators in Nigeria (ASOHON).

Does the NGO focus on reuniting children with their biological families?

Absolutely. We recognize the family as the bedrock of society. Through our Family Program, we work to locate a child’s relatives and facilitate psychological healing for both parties. While we provide legal guardianship and residential care, our ultimate goal is a safe and healthy reunification whenever possible.

How can I be sure my donation is making a direct impact?

We are exclusively funded by private donations from individuals, friends, and well-wishers. Your contributions directly fund our "SAFETI" focus: Shelter & Healthcare: Maintaining separate homes for boys and girls, including medical screening for HIV, Typhoid, and Hepatitis B.

Education: Providing basic literacy, numeracy, and vocational skills through state-recognized training institutes.

Nutrition: Ensuring every child is adequately fed.
